"(Anne) loves furniture, fabrics and decorative objects that show their age, have style and history: a corner cupboard with gilding long gone, but the gesso coming through, making its own patina; a mirror with fabric frame made from a bishop's sumptuous cope:an exquisite bust of a goddess that looks like marble but is in fact glazed terracotta. Fowler trained in fine art, painted a chest of drawers in a wildflower design when she was 18, and hasn't stopped painting since, using her talents to renovate and transform battered pieces into something gorgeous."
